Laura began her career at Northamptonshire Police, working in research, analysis and policy roles, leading work on understanding police performance, crime, public perceptions and victim experiences.
With the arrival of the PCC for Northamptonshire in November 2012, Laura moved to the PCC’s Office and led a portfolio of policy work including commissioning victim services and restorative practice, translation of research evidence into practice and faith-based and community initiatives.
Laura gained a first class honours degree (BSc) in Criminology and Social Policy from Loughborough University, receiving the ‘Professor Albert Cherns Memorial Award 2007’. Laura went on to receive a Loughborough Graduate School Scholarship and completed a Masters of Research degree in Social Science Research. Laura is due to complete her doctoral study with the University of Leicester in 2016, which addresses policing approaches to faith communities, perceptions of disproportionality in police protection and surveillance and the effects of community hostility and faith hate crime.
Laura became Director of the IPSCJ in May 2015.
