World Class Policing Awards: Let’s celebrate the very best of policing

World Class Policing Awards 2019

World class policing is set to be recognised and celebrated with the official launch this week of the World Class Policing Awards 2019. Policing Insight is proud to be a Media Partner for these Awards.

Every day of the week in every part of the United Kingdom and beyond, there are many examples of outstanding police work. Now that work is to be recognised and celebrated with the launch of the World Class Policing Awards.

These new Awards will celebrate all aspects of policing, such as an outstanding or complex investigation, a groundbreaking operation or an innovative crime prevention initiative reducing harm. The Awards also recognise projects that provide the platform for effective frontline policing outcomes: maybe a ground breaking transformation project, inspirational training and development or programmes that ensure officer and staff diversity and wellbeing.

These Awards will provide much-needed additional recognition for outstanding police work by the unsung heroes and heroines of our remarkable law enforcement bodies.

The World Class Policing Awards will recognise exceptional performance, effective collaboration, innovative and progressive policing, beneficial outcomes for the public, as well as initiatives that improve the welfare of officers and staff to empower them to greater achievement. The Awards will celebrate and share World Class Policing knowledge and practice with the whole policing community.

These Awards will this year take place on Thursday, 14th November, at a distinguished Gala Dinner in central London. The World Class Policing Awards 2019 will there honour the very best of policing by celebrating those often unsung police officers and staff along with their collaboration partners from other public sector agencies, commercial, third sector and academic organisations.

The World Class Policing Awards 2019 will thus:

  • Recognise examples of “world class” policing
  • Celebrate excellence in policing, both in the United Kingdom and around the world
  • Encourage modern, progressive, collaborative and effective policing
  • Showcase individual, team and organisational achievement and success
  • Promote the sharing and delivery of innovation and good practice

The World Class Policing Awards 2019 will celebrate outstanding individuals; brilliant partnership working, collaboration, and multi-agency operations; topflight police teams and departments that pull together to achieve spectacular results. Nominations will open next month, with award winners subsequently being chosen by an independent committee of judges chaired by Stephen Kavanagh QPM, the former Chief Constable of Essex Police and now Chair of the World Class Policing Awards 2019.

Mr Kavanagh said: “These Awards will provide much-needed additional recognition for outstanding police work by the unsung heroes and heroines of our remarkable law enforcement bodies.

“I am honoured to have been part of this process and to Chair the World Class Policing Awards Steering Committee. I look forward to our Nominations and Awards Committee reviewing the very many worthy nominations I expect us to receive on behalf of those colleagues who deserve national – and potentially international – recognition.”
