Over the past few years police forces across the country have been making advances in their use of technology in order to better serve the public. Policing Insight have conducted a survey of police officers from 44 police forces across England, Scotland and Wales, and the subsequent report provides a unique insight into the views of the front-line on the provision of ICT in their force.

This is the first survey of its kind, and the granular detail of the findings makes it a rich resource for those interested in the police ICT market. The results and feedback from end users are almost required reading for police managers, buyers and suppliers. The survey was made possible by the active participation of the Police Federation of England and Wales, along with the Superintendents’ Associations of England & Wales and Scotland. Policing Insight is now working with techUK and the Police Federation to explore how the voice of the front line can be heard more audibly in the police technology community.

Bernard Rix, who conducted the survey and composed the report, will present the findings and key insights to the tech community, and then a panel of experts will discuss what implications and opportunities these results present for suppliers. There will also be an opportunity for suppliers to help inform what additional areas could be explored in next year’s survey.

Simon Kempton, Police Federation lead for ICT will also speak at the event, giving an operational front-line perspective.

Delegates will also hear from Clare Elford, MD of Clue Computing, an established supplier of investigative technology that has built a strong relationship with its user community, leading to significant product innovation.

Delegates will also hear from Lord Wasserman, whose relationship with the police technology market goes back several decades and includes the UK and USA. He has advised the government on policing since 2011.

This event is ideal for any companies currently supplying to the police, or looking to enter the market, who want to improve their understanding of how end users view their force’s provision of technology.

The aim is to help those who are looking to enter the policing market (or who are supplying to a few Forces but need to know how to expand into the others) get a better understand of the landscape, and how to navigate it.

Bernard Rix, is the CEO of CoPaCC and publisher of Policing Insight. He has worked as an independent police, criminal justice and community safety advisor since 1990, across the United Kingdom, Europe and the Middle East. He has led over fifty significant change assignments in this time, work that has – amongst other benefits – improved police investigation of burglary, cut court delays, given victims a better service, helped community relations, and enhanced police officer safety.
