Profile
Roy is a fourth generation soldier having served 42 years in the regular and reserve Army. He joined Surrey Police as a Police Officer but was injured on duty and retired. Later joining Hampshire Constabulary as a civilian and was made redundant this year. Roy fought the General Election against his friend Dr Julian Lewis MP in New Forest East winning nearly 9000 votes and polling second place. “I want to ensure that Hampshire residents have an evolved 21st century police service equipped to do their job, and providing value for money for the council tax payer” The proposed new Government funding formula provides less than adequate funding for the Police in Hampshire’s needs, more must be done to ensure we have what we need. When I am elected I want to see the Constabulary properly funded and supported, in this way the people of Hampshire will be best served. As the voice of Hampshire residents I want to ensure that everyone is able to contribute to the way the Police are managed, and as such I will work closely with all parties to ensure this happens. In my view warranted officers are for police work not for projects and back office functions, those are jobs for non-warranted personnel. Hampshire Constabulary is a fine force with officers and staff offering excellent service in very difficult times, I am very proud to have been part of it. When I am elected I want to play my part in its ongoing development and success, to keep officers protected from violence and to make Hampshire safe for my family and for yours.
