Rod Jarman was in the Metropolitan Police Service for over 32 years, achieving the rank of Deputy Assistant Commissioner and Director for Leadership and Learning with overall responsibility for delivery of all training and leading 33,000 police officers and staff. He achieved considerable success at solving and reducing crime, increasing competency and detaining offenders. Since leaving the force he has developed his own consultancy delivering training to police forces in the UK, Abu Dhabi and China with over 150 associates and 75 programmes covering every aspect of police development, including undergraduate and post graduate degrees. Rod is Director of the London Policing College, and has maintained his operational capability and insight as an Associate Inspector with Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary Fire and Rescue focusing on Leadership and supporting Inspections of forces on all aspects of Policing. Rod is also the Lead for Police Education and Research at the University of West London, leading on the development and delivery of graduate and postgraduate qualifications in policing, supporting the introduction of the UK Police Education Qualifications Framework. Has been awarded the Queen’s Police Medal for services to policing, and has the honour of being appointed as a member of the venerable order of St John of Jerusalem.
