Martin is a qualified trainer and assessor who enjoyed a 30-year career as a police officer with the Metropolitan Police Service, attaining the rank of Inspector. Martin was a hostage and crisis negotiator, and has experience of managing counter-terrorism teams, proactive task forces and community policing teams; he also managed the strategic oversight and operational running of custody suites across a large London Borough.
Martin was training manager at the Hendon Police Recruit Training School. He has current and extensive experience of training police officers on the Certificate of Knowledge in Policing and Police Recruit Foundation course, holds a Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training and is a qualified assessor.
His training skills extend into the international policing arena, having been Head of General Policing at the Jordanian International Police Training Centre, where he led the international trainers and interpreters in delivering the curriculum to 1,500 Iraqi police officers.
