DCI Leanne Pook is Avon and Somerset Police’s designated lead for the response to FGM.
A detective for the greater part of her service, she’s worked in serious and major crime and public protection policing.
Since 2012, she’s led the force response to FGM and has been the South West Regional Liaison Officer. She sits on all the national police FGM working groups and the Home Office stakeholders meeting.
In addition to developing the strategic and operational policing response to FGM, she’s dedicated to improving engagement between affected communities and the police.
She’s also committed to working with other agencies to improve the collective response to FGM concerns and to raise awareness of FGM through schools based and community driven intervention.
