Colin Pipe is the Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner for Dorset. During the latter part of the first term of Police and Crime Commissioners he held this job on a voluntary basis. His primary career was in central government where he spent nearly 30 years, the lion’s share in the Ministry of Justice. Most recently, he spent some years negotiating international treaties concerning children in private law, predominantly international parental child abduction and international maintenance obligations and contact arrangements. Following early retirement he moved to Dorset where he had a second home for many years. He has always volunteered in some capacity throughout his life and has been a trustee of various charities, chairman of one of those charities, a magistrate, a churchwarden and a hospital governor.
