Profile
Brendan is a retired inspector, who for the last several years of his career managed two different neighbourhoods within GMP, where his team’s achievements were described as inspirational by a Prime Minister, Home Secretary, Policing Minister and Baroness Helen Newlove. In his last year of service Brendan delivered ‘Wicked Problem' solving training to GMP’s Neighbourhood Officers and Special Constabulary.
Brendan has continued his interest in encouraging others to adopt and develop new and innovative solutions to community based problems through approaches such as Appreciative Inquiry and Asset based Community Development. Over the past year he has supported Oxford Council / Police, Barnsley Community Safety Partnership and Mansfield Council to adopt new ways of engaging with their communities. Last year Brendan piloted the Skills for Justice (SFJ) Awards Problem Solving in Community Safety qualification alongside Oxford Council / Police, which has led to them introducing new demand and cost saving approaches. Over the next several months Brendan will be rolling out the same qualification as part of an overall organisational development approach on behalf of Gloucester Police / Council.
