Ben Stickle

Profile
Dr. Ben Stickle is Associate Professor of Criminal Justice Administration at Middle Tennessee State University and has been teaching criminal justice courses since 2010. He holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in Sociology from Cedarville University and a Master’s of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Justice Administration from the University of Louisville.
His research interests include policing (use of force, administration, and operations), property crime (metal theft, burglary, and package theft) with a theoretical focus on crime prevention, environmental crime, rational choice, and ethnography. Ben has published in peer-reviewed journals on these and other topics and is the author of, Metal Scrappers and Thieves: Scavenging for Survival and Profit (Springer, 2017).
Ben has over twenty years’ experience in the criminal justice field, including service as Sheriff’s Deputy, Advanced Police Officer, Advanced Crime Scene Processor, and Private Security Officer. Ben is a two-time President of the Kentucky Peace Officers’ Association and Council member of the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council. Ben is a graduate of the National Forensic Academy (Session XXII) and holds multiple professional certifications. Ben has served as an expert witness on matters involving police administration.
