This represented a significant data breach that undoubtedly had an enormous impact on those working at the PSNI, in addition to local communities, and public confidence. Following this incident, the PSNI and the Northern Ireland Policing Board (NIPB) requested an independent peer review of the matter. The NPCC Digital, Data and Technology Coordination Committee commissioned a team led by T/ Commissioner Peter O’Doherty in his capacity as national lead for the Police Information Assurance Board. Mr. O’Doherty has been supported by staff with considerable expertise in this area from West Yorkshire Police, the Police Digital Service, and the National Police Freedom of Information and Data Protection Unit. Today, the NIPB have published the review's findings.
