Driven (New Zealand) 3/6/2023 News Role of Training Comprehensiveness and Resource Commitment in Enhancing the Police Performance Leading to Development of Public Trust The present study assessed the training needs of police officials appointed at the constabulary level in the Indian police department, along with analyzing the role of resource commitment in moderating the relationship between training comprehensiveness (TC) and police investigation performance (PIP) of police officials. Relationship shared between PIP and public trust has also been studied with the help of the data received from 480 police officials that was analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis and regression analysis. Results showed that resource commitment moderated positively in between TC and PIP and PIP had a significant positive relationship with public trust. It can be inferred from the study that training needs of officials if assessed well and are supported through resources could result in better investigation performance eventually developing trust of the general public towards the police officials.
