It was amazing to be taught by the authors of the books I was referencing; it fills you with confidence knowing your lecturers are experts in their fields and so passionate about their work.”

“I enjoyed every minute of my degree and it was definitely one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I’m now able to be confident in my knowledge and abilities going forward thanks to my time at Portsmouth.”

Hanna Taha, BSc (Hons) Criminology and Criminal Justice student

The courses on offer range from criminology and criminal justice, to counter fraud, investigation, risk management and cybercrime. The flexibility of these degrees means that you will be able to work alongside your studies, and gain your degree in 4.5 years part time, whilst also earning an income.

There’s still time to enroll for our October 2021 courses. These options include:

BSc (Hons) Criminology and Criminal Justice

This BSc (Hons) degree develops your expertise around crime, deviance and control. You’ll improve your intellectual and critical skills and get expert teaching from leading academics within the school. On this course you’ll explore the issues, debates and arguments associated with crime, control and punishment.

BSc (Hons) Policing and Investigation

On this course you will build on your interest in policing; you’ll study the latest academic work in policing and learn about investigation as a global topic. As well as the academic knowledge you will develop the practical skills needed to work in areas such as police, private security, or financial investigation in banking.

This degree will boost your career prospects in policing and if you are already a serving officer you may be able to gain academic credits for your on-the-job experience, reducing the amount of study you will need to complete to gain your degree.

BSc (Hons) Risk and Security Management

This course has been developed with the private security sector, so the skills you learn are relevant and valuable to your career. This degree will give you the skills, knowledge and experience to take on ambitious roles and realise your potential. The topics include risk management, cyber security, and counter fraud.

Our links with industry have ensured we create degrees with current affairs at the forefront of the curriculum. Some of the organisations that we have collaborated with include the National Crime Squad, the National Cyber Security Centre, and the Cabinet Office.

The online courses are delivered via interactive digital course material, streamed lectures and seminars* (*on some courses). You’ll have access to teaching, support staff and a personal tutor via email, phone and video calls. These degrees cater for both in-house police officers and those just starting out in their career.

Take the next step to enhancing your career with a degree that fits in with your schedule and working patterns, it’s within your reach.

We still have spaces for an October 2021 start, and applications for September 2022 will open soon.
