Calls for a ‘more offensive’ police approach to cyber attacks and a stronger national tech strategy

At this year’s APCC-NPCC Partnership Summit, where science and tech issues were once again high on the agenda, City of London Police Commissioner Pete O’Doherty suggested police should consider “committing Computer Misuse Act offences to prevent crime”, senior leaders made the case for a stronger national approach to tech, and a survivor of deepfake abuse described how the police response to her crime proved “deeply traumatic” and left her “completely broken”, as Policing Insight’s James Sweetland reports.
