PSNI progress on ‘golden thread’ of neighbourhood policing – but officer abstractions are a threat

A new report by Criminal Justice Inspection Northern Ireland has found that the Police Service of Northern Ireland has made significant progress on the “golden thread” of neighbourhood policing, but warns that high levels of officer abstraction, budget pressures and continuing security concerns are threats to the success of the approach, as Policing Insight’s Sarah Gibbons reports.
