This year the NPCC Homicide Working Group will, for the first time, be hosting their well established and popular annual conference as an online event. In a world where homicide investigation is becoming increasingly complex, often requiring a multiagency approach, this year’s conference looks at how we can work in partnership with others to greatest effect.

Those participating in the conference will hear from a broad range of speakers, who will present some of the most challenging investigations undertaken in recent years. Case studies will include:

  • The investigation into the linked series of rapes by Joseph McCann
  • A complex County Lines investigation undertaken by Lancashire Constabulary
  • The investigation into allegations of historic child sex abuse perpetrated by football coach Kit Carson
  • Op Melrose – the investigation into the deaths of 39 Vietnamese immigrants who lost their lives whilst being transported into the UK in the back of a lorry.

Why should you attend?

SIOs perform one of the most challenging roles in policing, under high levels of scrutiny. It is imperative that those undertaking this role keep abreast of the latest investigative developments and techniques. Police forces are encouraged to support both current and aspiring SIOs to attend this highly regarded conference as part of their continuing professional development.

This year’s programme delivers an abundance of opportunities to learn from senior investigating officers, police leaders and experts about complex and high-profile investigations that have unfolded on both a national and international scale.

The conference aims to deliver an inspiring investigative insight into cases, with a particular emphasis on innovation, which will provide you with frameworks and best practice for current and future investigations.

The conference aims to provide insight and inspiration for current and future Senior Investigating Officers.
