The TASM conference will bring together a range of researchers, policy-makers and practitioners, from a number of different countries and disciplinary backgrounds. It will be hosted at the Great Hall on Swansea University’s £450m Bay Campus on 28-29 June 2022. As well as keynote presentations from leading experts, attendees will also have the opportunity to choose from a wide variety of breakout sessions.

The first day of the conference will focus on terrorists’ use of social media. Topics to be considered include: how different platforms are used (independently and in combination) by terrorist groups and sympathizers; the tactics and strategies used to disseminate propaganda online; and, the effect of a terrorist attack on extremists’ social media posts.

Day two will focus on questions of response, including: comparisons between different forms of response and different jurisdictions and cultures; the effectiveness and transparency of tech companies’ efforts to regulate their platforms and services; and, the role and future direction of the GIFCT.

All conference attendees will have the opportunity to register for an additional, one-day event on 30 June 2022, at which teams will work together to produce collaborative proposals for short-term projects that seek to address the challenges identified during the conference. The winning proposals will receive funding to take the projects forward.
