This conference builds on its predecessor, Understanding Hate Crime (18th June 2024) examining the nature of such crime and its impact through the lens of those impacted by it including those who have lost loved ones in acts of terror.Â
Aimed at policy makers and practitioners working in the field of hate crime, counter-extremism and community engagement, it offers a unique opportunity to hear from practitioners and academics with field experience and through the use of case studies on what works in community engagement and tackling hate crime.

- Dr Neville Lawrence, OBE- advocate for the marginalised and voiceless communities who struggle to access and be heard by law enforcement agencies.
- Mike Haines, OBE- Founder of Global Acts of Unity and brother of David Haines, the British humanitarian worker murdered by Daesh in September 2014.
- Paul Gianassi OBE – Hate Crime Advisor to the National Police Chiefs’ Council in the UK

Professor Mike Kenney – Director of the Matthew B Ridgway Center, University of Pittsburgh and author of the seminal book: Islamic State in Britain.
- Dr Joe Mulhall – Director of Research, Hope Not Hate.
- Dr Abdul Haqq Baker – Director of STREET UK and author of Extremists in Our Midst: Confronting Terror.
- Professor Paul Jackson – Professor in the History of Radicalism & Extremism, University of Northampton
- Dr Louise Hewitt – Associate Professor in Law whose research interests extends to protected characteristics for hate crimes, University of Greenwich
- Chief Inspector Ganesh Thayanithy – Senior Learning and Development Manager, Northamptonshire Police.
- Abdul-Hye Miah – Senior Lecturer in Criminal Justice University of Northampton and member of the London Policing Ethics Panel whose research extends to community engagement in tackling extremism and hate crime.
