2024 Paris Olympic Games: Successes, challenges and lessons learned

The Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP), in partnership with Homeland Security Service of the French Embassy, are hosting this timely webinar providing the Canadian policing community with insight into how France facilitated the complex role of hosting the 2024 Paris Olympic Summer Games.
With the FIFA World Cup coming to Canada in 2026, as well as other large scale, international events, this is an opportunity to hear the lessons learned while highlighting innovative policing practices and technological advances that were used for the first time in France.
From a security perspective, the 2024 Olympic Games were unprecedented: full of complex geographical context, high levels of threats of different kinds, and worldwide media attention with 5 billion viewers. This presentation will include:
- Preparation and security deployment (security issues identified upstream)
- Public security, crowd management, threat assessments in and around Paris
- Logistics and interoperability (specialized units, integrated teams, foreign reinforcements)
- Cyberthreats
- Real time incidents, challenges, and responses
