ANALYSIS: A multi-agency, multi-disciplinary initiative to safeguard children at risk in domestic abuse situations in Dorset involves social workers, police and healthcare professionals focusing on efforts to rebuild and restore family relationships and taking a ‘whole family working’ approach, explains Lisa Reid, Dorset Children’s Service’s Corporate Director for Quality Assurance and Safeguarding Families Together.

Profile
Lisa Reid is a qualified social worker with a career that has spanned 20 years. She is a senior leader who has delivered children’s services programmes in disciplines ranging from Early Help and youth offending to Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hubs and court teams. In 2017, Lisa chose a new direction towards improvement in the area of Children’s Services. She has supported local authorities with inspection preparations and has worked consultatively with stakeholders on assuring the best outcomes for children. In 2020, Lisa joined Dorset Council where she contributed to the achievement of Ofsted’s ranking of ‘good with outstanding’ in leadership for the council’s Strengthening Services for Children programme. Lisa’s current focus is continuous improvement in her role as Corporate Director of Quality Assurance and Safeguarding Families. She leads a multi-disciplinary team of experts in safeguarding and supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities along their journey from transitioning from care to leading more independent adult lives.
