Project Nova: Looking after the needs of veterans in custody

ANALYSIS: Project Nova started as a pilot model in the Norfolk and Suffolk areas, to identify military veterans at the earliest point in the criminal justice pathway, and support veterans at all stages through the criminal justice process. Dr Linda Cooper of Anglia Ruskin's Veterans and Families Unit reports back from the pilot.

Linda is a Research Fellow in the Veterans and Families Institute at Anglia Ruskin University. Her main research interest involves veterans in the criminal justice system (CJS). Linda has just completed a report on the pilot study for Project Nova, an intervention model for veterans in the CJS. She is currently leading a two year project undertaking a national audit of veteran-specific support in the CJS, engaging with PCC offices around the country to capture the regional delivery of support services. Linda is also a member of the Society of Evidence Based Policing.
