My name is Jan Leenslag, since 1982 I am a member of the Dutch National Police force. I started as a patrol officer for almost six years, before I switched to several (not specified) Special Branch jobs. Throughout all these functions, training, creating standards and improving skills was a common factor. (Georgina, please edit "common factor) into proper English) Mid 2007 I started a study educational developing in Applied Sciences University. After graduating I started as an operational trainer/coach for the Dutch National Police. In 2012 I got interested in bringing these talents into Foreign missions. This resulted in a full year's tour in Afghanistan as a training adviser / developing specialist. The mission statement asked for "Afghan ownership and sustainability". The result of taking this serious and the wish to build only bespoke products is explained in these papers, describing how I succeeded in just this. My current position is "Educational Ambassador" together with 12 other ambassadors we are responsible for the contents of the "strategic training plan" of the Dutch National Police, under responsibility of Director of Operations. Right now I am looking for another mission to take part in, to repeat the success I had in Kabul Police Academy.
