FEATURE: The various COVID-19 lockdowns have prompted criminal activity to move increasingly online, with illicit financial transactions following suit; ahead of next week’s We Fight Fraud online conference, Dr Nicola Harding outlines the findings of a new white paper which reveal how low-level criminal commerce is increasingly becoming part of the cashless society.

Profile
Dr Nicola Harding is a Criminology Lecturer and Researcher in the Law School at Lancaster University. Her research broadly focuses on critical perspectives of crime, deviance, and social control. Her PhD examined women’s experiences of punishment, with subsequent research projects focusing on innovation in the criminal justice system and security sector. Dr Harding works closely with We Fight Fraud to co-ordinate research from both sides of the law, acting as a conduit between WFF’s network on the ground and the world of academic research. She also oversees the academic rigour of We Fight Fraud’s training courses.
