BAPCO has announced the conference programme for its 2021 annual Conference & Exhibition, supported by media partner Policing Insight and taking place 12-13 October in Coventry, UK

As in previous years, the programme will cover the full range of topics most relevant to public safety communications users based in the UK. This includes everything from the roll-out of mission critical broadband, to the development and deployment of ‘future tech’ such as drones and AI.

BAPCOThe conference will kick off on the first day with a keynote presentation from the senior responsible officer for ESMCP, Simon Parr, who will discuss the UK Home Office’s burgeoning Emergency Services Network. Another key ESN-related session meanwhile, this time delivered on the second day, will be programme director John Black and director of deployment and user insight Becca Jones, discussing delivery of the network.

Other highlights delivered by speakers based in the UK include Openreach’s John Livermore talking about the imminent switch from analogue to digital telephony, and the Welsh Government’s Tony Bracey discussing Multi-Agency Incident Transfer from the user perspective.

As well as featuring a range of speakers from the United Kingdom, BAPCO 2021 also has a true international flavour, featuring presentations from the likes of NENA’s Monica Million, discoursing on the future of 999/911. Monica’s colleague April Heinze meanwhile will lead a panel discussion on workplace stress.

Organisers also anticipate a sizeable international audience for the conference, with BAPCO 2021 being the first year that the event has been fully supported online, following the success of BAPCO: The Online Event in March. This will allow those with restricted travel to experience the show, with all conference sessions being streamed live for a small access fee.

We are also incredibly pleased to offer an online platform for the first time, through which to experience the sessions. BAPCO’s reach and influence stretches far beyond the UK, and this year we’re looking forward to welcoming visitors from around the world

Discussing this year’s programme, conference director Lisa Freeman said: “With BAPCO 2021, we have endeavoured to bring together one of the most eclectic and cutting-edge programmes in the history of the show. Those experiencing the conference will receive hours of vital best practice information, in order to help them maximise their operations and move the sector forward.

“We are also incredibly pleased to offer an online platform for the first time, through which to experience the sessions. BAPCO’s reach and influence stretches far beyond the UK, and this year we’re looking forward to welcoming visitors from around the world.”
