The National Policing Digital Strategy 2020-2030, announced in January 2020, paved the road for vital future improvements and changes for police services across the UK. With new and innovative technology being produced regularly, police forces must continue to invest in transforming the legacy estate and upskilling staff to best utilise the latest technological developments and data systems.

Successfully embracing new digital and technology resources will improve engagement and services for the public. Through collaborative working and shared best practice, police forces can continue to drive efficiency and increase data sharing, while reducing time and money spent on outdated systems.

  • It is estimated that more than 90% of reported crime now has a digital element, according to the National Policing Digital Strategy 2020-2030
  • The same report found that £1.396 billion was spent on policing technology funding in 2018/2019
  • In 2020, The Police Transformation Fund announced by the Home Office was worth £175 million
  • In 2018, a Police ICT User Survey found that 55% of officers were not happy with their force’s ICT system
